Ph 180 / 288 Daoist Philosophy
The course initiates the student into Daoist Philosophy through a discussion of the key principles of dao-de, beginning with the meaning of dao (道) and de (徳). Using two major texts of Daoist Philosophy – Daodejing (道德經) and Zhuangzi (莊子), this sojourn into dao-de opens the way for an appreciation of a manner of being human as weiziran (為自然), and prepares the student for a reflective and meditative questioning of contemporary problems and issues from a perspective of harmony of dao-de.
